Been a very up and down year for sure...Thanks Marc. Been a very up and down year for sure. The core of my dilemma stems from my personality. I'm very critical of myself and my performance. On one hand it is a great motivator as I don't wish to face the wrath of the voices in my head, so to speak. On the other hand, performance and achievement can easily become black and white where either you feel you did, or didn't meet expectation. Bottom line is we do it for fun and need to keep that perspective. It isn't life or death we are dealing with, though at times it may feel that way.

As for the SS, no way I will give it up. I train almost exclusively on the SSCX and SSMTB. I'm just thinking a change may be in order. I like the idea of the challenge of racing the elite races, at least at the small venues, on the SSCX. I get the longer race in, get to race my SSCX against excellent competition and if things go well, have a chance at earning my entry fee back. I really like doubling up but as I get older, I'm finding it quickly becomes too much to recover from. The timing is also usually such that the 1/2/3 - SSCX double is the most viable choice, which translates to 1:40 of CX racing in a row. That's like doing a really hard MTB race nearly twice a weekend, every weekend. Hadn't thought of it that way. No wonder I'm tired :)mkrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15780870344676828580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21095190.post-62051007168895246742014-12-04T07:54:00.312-05:002014-12-04T07:54:00.312-05:00Mike,

As a mid pack guy, I have enjoyed watching your success this year- reading about motivational/team struggles were very interesting... As far as single speed goes, it would be sad to see you out of that game.. Don't let the bastards bring you down...

best to you.

respect
fmYour Friendly Neighborhood HR Dudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17282255621586407098noreply@blogger.com
