The day after that run last week my calves were killing me and they have been sore ever since. Totally different stuff. I have a hard time running on the road though as the shock makes a mess of my knee. Will see how this goes.mkrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15780870344676828580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21095190.post-84285917635189954862012-03-05T19:03:27.962-05:002012-03-05T19:03:27.962-05:00Your brother has been running two miles a day. So...the Dr. put him on a low dose of blood pressure medicine and says if he starts exercising, he may be able to go off of it. He immediatly came home and started running. We had ran together all last summer outside but once winter hit, I continued at the gym but Chad didn't do much of anything. Once he sets his mind to something though he is very deciplined. <br />I have the NB vibrams...hate them. 100 bucks wasted. Everyone I workout with love them, but for me they give my arches cramps. The best running shoes I own are my trusted cross runner Nikes. I have to have a thick sole, I think it makes me feel safer...lol.Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06246808617216887190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21095190.post-16075040591913816622012-02-28T14:42:45.784-05:002012-02-28T14:42:45.784-05:00Cycling and XC skiing are completely devoid of ecc...Cycling and XC skiing are completely devoid of eccentric muscle contraction. This is where the muscle is elongating under tension. Running entails eccentric action, especially any downhill grades. Because you are not conditioned for this type of muscle action, it can cause rather quick breakdown and severe DOMS a day or two later. It took me 2-3 months to get past that stage when I started running last year. Now I find if I run much slower than 8min/mi, it is actually harder on me than if I run a little faster. I'm more fluid at around a 7:30 pace. Be patient. It will get easier. Be careful with your ankles though. I wear lace-up ankle braces when going off-road.Hill Junkiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01901432169252097296noreply@blogger.com
